They say: Stepping up the fun factor.
We say: A new board in Ride’s range, the Manic is aimed at the fast-improving freestyler who wants a stick that’ll do most things – at a price they can afford to pay. This is stiffer than some beginner boards, but still forgiving enough.
Tester says: Amazing! Took the wide version out (I have quite big feet) and it floated nicely in powder.

About Ride
- Building boards since: 1992
- HQ: Seattle, WA, USA
- History lesson: Now one of the best-known brands in snowboarding, Ride was founded in 1992. Tim Pogue, a former Burton employee, joined forces with Jamie Salter – of the now sadly defunct Kemper snowboards – and a third friend Roger Madison to work on a new project. Their vision struck a chord with riders both in the states and in Europe who were looking an alternative to the super-sized ski brands that dominated the market. Ride’s spectacular early success drove the company’s founders to take it public in 1994. Since then it has grown steadily.
- Ridden by: Shredders who want to be alternative without going all the way. Riding Ride makes you look less like your dad kids!
