UPDATE: Check out our review of the 2018/2019 Jones Storm Chaser here
Looking for a new park stick? You’ve come to the wrong place. While every Jones snowboard is designed to perform well in the backcountry, you won’t find a more pow-specific ride than the Jones Storm Chaser.
“The Jones Storm Chaser’s short ‘n’ stubby outline is complemented also by the ‘Spoon’ design in the nose
The profile is a progressive rocker inspired by surfboards, so it’s not just the shape that keeps this thing afloat. The Jones Storm Chaser’s short ‘n’ stubby outline is complemented also by the ‘Spoon’ design in the nose, which is slightly convex.
If it’s not a snorkel day, then this may feel a little out of sorts, but it’s rigid and responsive enough to ride at relatively high speed on hard pack without feeling unstable. This is thanks in part to the bamboo has been placed at the sidecut, a new addition for 2017/18. Don’t expect too much pop out of that tail though – after all, it barely has one.
The Jones Storm Chaser is definitely one of the quiver, so unless you’re expecting to bag a lot of great pow days then it’s a little too specialist. However, those in a position to get the goods on a regular basis need look on further – and for the even more adventurous, there’s also a splitboard version.
