UPDATE: Check out our review of the 2018/2019 Salomon Assassin Pro here
With the Salomon Assassin proving so popular, it makes perfect sense to also issue a supercharged version for those who want something even more premium, but without losing the original’s all-mountain cred. Hence we now have this, the Salomon Assassin Pro.
“Both versions of the Salomon Assassin will satisfy the confident all-rounder, but for some only the Salomon Assassin Pro will do”
An upgrade rather than a complete redesign, the Salomon Assassin Pro features subtle tweaks throughout its construction, starting with the core. The full Aspen version found in the original Assassin has been replaced with Salomon’s ‘Ghost Green’ core, which uses Paulownia wood in a calibration that’s all about saving weight whilst maintaining strength.
The Assassin Pro also features the same carbon-enhanced sidewalls found on Bode Merrill’s creation, the Salomon Ultimate Ride. These improve the board’s response through the turns, and ensure it can handle the kind of big landings and impacts you’ll come across, both on piste and off.
The edges have been bevelled slightly differently too, with more of a focus on all-round riding rather than just park, but elsewhere it’s much the same as the OG version. The camber has a short, flat section in the middle to increase stability, whilst the sidecut is a mixture of straight lines and even curves that works in all conditions.
Both versions of the Assassin will satisfy the confident all-rounder, but for some only the Salomon Assassin Pro will do.
