When compared to the Jones Discovery, the Jones Prodigy seems quite mellow. However, make no mistake; this is still aimed at the confident young snowboarder, and one who plans to follow Jeremy Jones’ freeride path in the future.

Its closest equivalent in the adult range is probably the Jones Explorer; it has the same all-mountain characteristics, such as the camber profile, biax fibreglass and full poplar core. It’s also got the slightly bevelled edge at the nose and tail, which allows for smooth turns without feeling too much like a boat.
Shape-wise, however, it’s a bit more like the Mountain Twin, so you can certainly explore the park on this when there’s no powder around. The extruded base is better suited to hitting boxes and rails than its sintered equivalent, as it’s a bit tougher, but there’s a little bit less speed by comparison.
It’s a little on the narrow side, so if your kid has big feet for their age then be sure there won’t be too much toe overhang. However, if you can get hold of one that suits (and with the new 115cm size, that’s more likely than ever), the Jones Prodigy is a great way to get your kids laying down proper turns all over the mountain.
