UPDATE: Check out our review of the 2018/2019 Rome Vice here
Rome first introduced the Katana back in the 2013/14 season, and it’s been a favourite of ours ever since. Its only real drawback is the cost, which hovers at the top end of the market. Now there’s this, the Rome Vice, which takes a lot of the Katana’s winning tech and puts it in a more affordable package.

The Rome Vice binding shares enough DNA with the Katana to be considered a close relative. The key similarity is the AsymWrap Chassis, which in the men’s range can only found on these two models. Aircraft-grade aluminium run along the inside of each foot, but not the outside. This gives you more movement from nose to tail, so you can tweak out 80s style when the mood strikes, without a trading off any edge-to-edge performance.
It shares all of the Katana’s customisation options, so you can change the mounting of the ankle strap or rotate the highback to exactly how you like it. Speaking of the highback, the one on this is heavily panelled at the top to allow for tweakage when you want it, but are strong and supportive lower down.
The Rome Vice isn’t just a cheaper Katana – it’s got a personality all of its own. Those liking something a bit surfier should definitely check this one out.
