Stylewars: The Aussies strike back

Stylewars the 4-star TTR slopestyle competition, is set to go off down under next week (August 23rd – 25th), bringing some of the world’s best riders to Falls Creek, Australia. Cos the comp falls so early in the competitive calendar (just after the Burton NZ Open) it has always traditionally attracted a load of young bucks eager to prove themselves, as well as Southern Hemisphere locals. Back in 2007, Torstein Horgmo made the first major splash of his career here by hitting the biggest jump ever seen in a competition – and slaying the shit out of it while everyone else sketched out a bit. Check the video for the evidence.

This year, it looks like this mix of locals and younger riders is going to be preserved, with Norway’s Gjermund Braaten set to show up alongside Canada’s Mark McMorris and Seb Toots. Despite the fact that these three are currently sitting in the TTR top ten, none of them is over 20 years old yet! Lets hope for some more Torstein-style action…
