The Salomon Gypsy Pro is built for women who demand the utmost from their equipment. If you’re a park ripping, rail smashing, box destroying, urban jib queen then the Gypsy Pro won’t just be your cup of tea, this thing is the whole damn teapot.

Desiree Melancon is a force to be reckoned with in snowboarding. A list of accolades and video parts longer than Shaun White’s hair circa 2005, she needs a board that will not only be able to keep up with her, but to inspire her. A classic blunt true twin shape houses a veritable smorgasbord of tech and lends itself to playful freestyle riding.

“A classic blunt true twin shape houses a veritable smorgasbord of tech and lends itself to playful freestyle riding”

Borrowing the DNA of the award winning Salomon Gypsy, Des upgraded and tweaked her design to create something that could handle anything and everything. While those still working on honing their skills might want to look towards the Gypsy, if you’re a confident and powerful rider then the Gypsy Pro will be more your style.

Extend your hip backwards, focus your weight over the sweet spot and the softer zone in the tail allows you to lock into presses with ease. Backing up its chops amongst jibbers is the flat section between the feet, this is a god send when you’re getting in amongst it on boxes and rails. The stability offered allows you to focus on your movements, rather than getting hung up about getting caught out by the metal. This is all backed up by the pre-bevelled edges, so the only hookups you’ll be getting are in the bar at apres.

Gunslinger Sidewalls are designed to absorb shock through the board so you can charge through chop and chunder with nary a care in the world. A carbon inlay is sandwiched between strips of rubber along the edge of the board, down either side. The rubber absorbs the impacts and dampens the ride, and the carbon increases your reaction down your edges.

“This is a snowboard that won’t just let you step up your game, it’ll demand it of you”

On piste you can expect a rocketship speed, smooth turn initiation and a dynamic ride thanks to the high quality sintered base, Quadrilizer Sidecut and playful biax laminates. The lightweight wood core has inlaid carbon stringers out to the tip and tail, boosting rider input for maximum ollie power and some extra snap for your crackle and pop.

Not only a talented snowboarder, Des lends her hand to art as well, and designs the graphics for her snowboards. Of this she said ” The inspiration of the graphic flirts with the myth of creation, showcasing significant literary ties and taking inspiration from shape, metaphor, form, desire, and of course, Murakami.

This is a snowboard that won’t just let you step up your game, it’ll demand it of you. Strap in, and hold on tight because the Salomon Gypsy Pro is back baby!
