The Details:
It’s tempting to file any lower-priced board as an entry-level or beginner’s option. While the Rome Brigade certainly wouldn’t be a bad choice for newbies, it offers plenty for the more advanced rider too – especially those who want one stick for all conditions.
Camber boards have a lot going for them, but can sometimes feel twitchy and can lead to edge catches. The odds of this are minimised on the Brigade in a couple of ways; for one, the contacts points feature a longer, more gradual bend than is standard. Also, the base has been 3D modelled to give it a slight rocker feel at each end.
It’ll grip and rip, for sure (especially with the extra traction that the use of multiple sidecuts on each edge provides), but still allows for all the buttering you could ask for. Two strips of bamboo running nose to tail further add to the board’s pop, without weighing it down.
The extruded base doesn’t require too much attention, and is just one of the reasons why the cost is so low. For an all-terrain, all-purpose, all-conquering steed, this has got to be one of the best deals out there.
