UPDATE: Check out our review of the 2018/2019 Ride War Pig here

Anyone can make an interesting-looking snowboard with a cool name – but making it perform like the Ride War Pig does? That’s a bigger task altogether. Still, the guys and gals at Ride pulled it off in 2016/17, and we’re delighted to see this unique all-rounder return for another winter.

“It’s super maneuverable too, allowing you to explore the tightest tree runs.”

The Ride War Pig is now available in three lengths rather than two, all of which are still far shorter than what you’d normally ride. By downsizing the length but upping the waist width (as well as tapering the shape slightly), Ride have created something that’s far floatier in powder than you’d think. It’s super maneuverable too, allowing you to explore the tightest tree runs.

Away from the powder, it’s fun as hell on all the natural contours of a resort. The flat base may not grip as hard as camber, but it’s not far off. Then when you find a feature or roller, the carbon enhancements increase the pop.

Is it any good in the park? For the answer, just check out Brandon Davis ripping in China. Plus with the addition of impact plates under the inserts, the Ride War Pig can handle more heavy landings than ever.

Tester’s Verdict

Andrew Duthie – whitelines.com

“This board is so, so fun – a genuine thrill to ride.

The War Pig is just stiff enough to really let rip at speed, to the point where you’d almost forget how short it is. I say ‘almost’, because as you put it on an edge it is just so nimble, far more so than any conventional board.

Hit as many side hits as you can on this too – it loves ‘em, and pops really well despite its flatness. I’d love to have an “if only it…” to add, but in the time I rode it I could only admire its sheer fun factor.

And that was without getting to take it for a late-season slush bash – something that’s definitely on my list for this spring.”
