UPDATE: Check out our review of the 2019/2020 Ride MTN Pig here
The Ride War Pig has given birth to an extended family of porcine-themed vehicles, and this one – the Ride Mountain Pig snowboard – is the biggest and most freeride focused of the lot.
At first glance this looks like the recently retired Ride Alter Ego, re-named and re-packaged – it even comes in the exact same size range. However, a closer look will tell you that, while there are a few similarities, the Ride Mountain Pig has its own personality.

Well, sort of – it shares a lot with the War Pig too, of course. The tapered outline and large, squared-off nose have definitely been inspired by the original Pig, and it too has carbon additives and impact plates under the bindings.
What about the differences? Well for one, there’s a lot more carbon in the Mountain Pig, making it stiffer and more aggressive. It’s also got a more standard edge, as you’re less likely to need protection against rails, and a topsheet that wisely prioritises a more stable ride at speed than any major weight savings.
If you liked the Alter Ego’s unique split tail, then sorry, you won’t find it here. However, the crescent tail on the Ride Mountain Pig pretty much tells you all you need to know: get this in the powder, pronto.
