The Ride Berzerker made quite an impact when it first appeared in 2012. The star of its designer and patron, Jake Blauvelt, has only risen further since then, thanks to appearances in Travis Rice’s megabudget movies as well as his own full-lengther, Naturally – and all the while, Ride have ensured that the Berzerker has kept up with him.

“While it belongs in the powder, the Ride Berzerker isn’t a specialist stick”

While it belongs in the powder, the Ride Berzerker isn’t a specialist stick. It’s directional enough to make charging easier, but you can ride (and land) switch too. Don’t just fly down faces with this; find a spine or a cliffdrop, and pull some shapes. The areas under each binding are reinforced to hangle the big landings, so there’s no point being shy.

If there’s no pow in sight, you can still get plenty out of the Ride Berzerker. Targeted carbon under each foot make this super responsive when changing edges, and the shape and profile are very carve-friendly. If you come across a roller or jump, more carbon in the tail gives you a pop boost.

All-mountain boards often feel like a compromise, but the Ride Berzerker has long won plaudits for being more than the sum of its parts. With the 2017/18 edition looking as good as ever, expect that to continue.

Tester’s Verdict

Jon Birdldmountaincentre.com

“If you only have space for one snowboard in your bag, and you have no idea what the conditions are like where you’re heading, or even what the terrain is like… take a Berserker.

“If you’re after a board you can rely on whatever the conditions, this is the one to have in your bag.“

The directional shape and rocker in the nose are perfect for charging the deep powder stashes, and the camber under the feet gives you added control and grip on the harder stuff.

The Berserker’s performance-tuned core packs plenty of pop for park or backcountry cheese wedges, and it’s a true weapon for any occasion: carving up the corduroy, slashing a pow stash or lapping the park shirts-off on a spring day.

If you’re after a board you can rely on whatever the conditions, this is the one to have in your bag.“
