The combination of the name and the dark mysterious purple-blue-ish design makes the all- newNidecker Smoke look very appealing to the collective eyes of the Whitelines team. It’s not just its magical aura that we’re loving though, the tech on this board is even more impressive than its looks.

The Nidecker Smoke is an aggressive carving board made to take on the whole mountain. Featuring a directional camber, the board predominantly features camber right up to the tip, where there’s just a hint of rocker. For most riders out there, it’ll ride and feel like a full camber, with just a hint of forgiveness and float in the nose.

“Nidecker uses a perfect combination of paulownia for lightness and poplar for pop and responsiveness”

With the Smoke carrying Nidecker’s lightest core to date, you know this board won’t weigh you down and hold you back. Nidecker uses a perfect combination of paulownia for lightness and poplar for pop and responsiveness, so you can be certain to get all the snap you need out of it. Hardwood beech stringers that run along the edges of the board are there to increase the durability of the core.

Not only is this board light, but the base of it is the fastest one this Swiss brand does. The N-9000 base is produced using carbon nanoparticles, which have a very dense molecular structure, something that results in a lightning fast durable base that will have you flying down the hill.

The Nidecker Smoke is a performance board, ideal for all the carving kids out there. Faster than Flash Gordon and as precise as a Swiss watch, if you’re looking for a fun and versatile all-mountain snowboard – this stick is definitely worthy of consideration.

Tester’s Verdict

Rob McCreathWhitelines

“Holy Smokes, would you take a look at this thing!? This has all the aura of Blue Steel, with the added bonus of being able to turn left as well as right.

I’m already pretty set for shorter, wider carving boards – I have a KORUA Stealth – but I’m always down to see what the closest competition brings. The Nidecker Smoke is an altogether more powerful and ruthless samurai. Even with a little bit of choppy, bumpy powdery snow, the Smoke cut right through it. Being wider underfoot meant it continued to carve in these conditions without a whole lot of boot drag.

“Being a shorter board, you can manipulate the sidecut more effectively, so it’s as easy to layout big long sweepers as it is to tighten things up and dart from edge to edge”

Finally, I found some groomed pistes and this thing left its mark like Zorro down the corduroy. Being a shorter board, you can manipulate the sidecut more effectively so it’s as easy to layout big long sweepers as it is to tighten things up and dart from edge to edge.

It’s mighty powerful, you really need to commit to turning this thing otherwise it feels a bit like just tilting your head from side to side while it powers ahead in a straight line shouting “Is that all you got, pussy?!”

Get some stiff boots, get some stiff bindings, and prepare for the ultimate snowboarding induced stiffy. I guarantee you won’t regret adding this one to the quiver”
