The Nidecker Princess is an aggressive all-mountain board designed to rip shit up wherever you take it. Taking the profile of a classic camber, you can expect a hell of a lot of pop from this thing. It will snap you through your carves, no fuss, and is quick when going from edge to edge. With both the tip and the tail being reinforced with lighter and stronger materials, you’ve got yourself a more shock absorbent board – one that lets you charge through bumps on the piste smoothly and at speed.

“Don’t let the name fool you, this is a badass board born to rip through anything and everything”

The nose has a diamond-like shape, increasing the surface area to keep it from submarining in the powder. New for this season is the reformed shape of the tail. Last season, the tail was also shaped like a diamond. However, the Nidecker guys decided to tweak it a little and have blunted it slightly for this season. This allows you to ride switch without having to compromise on the responsiveness of the board.

Giving you the ability to charge even faster is the N-9000 sintered base, which is the fastest base made over at Nidecker. Add the tough yet light core in the mix, a core which enhances both the board’s durability and pop, and you can be confident of ripping through anything and everything that’s thrown your way.

With a women specific design (narrower waist, softer flex and smaller radius side cut for easier turns) the Nidecker Princess is the board for all the girls out there who want to charge. And by the way, in case this wasn’t clear already, don’t let the name of this snowboard fool you. This is a badass board born to rip through anything and everything – it’s nails.

Tester’s Verdict

“Do not let the name fool you!!! This board is not for princesses- it rides hard and fast.

“The twin (for a Nidecker) shape allows for all mountain use, however the stiffness of the board doesn’t lend itself to jibbing unless being used by a strong rider”

The twin (for a Nidecker) shape allows for all mountain use, however the stiffness of the board doesn’t lend itself to jibbing unless being used by a strong rider. The ‘Princess’ performs incredibly well in powder for cruisy turns, ballsy drops or aggressive cloud bursts, whatever floats your boat, she can do it. It also holds sharp edges on piste for blasting and carving

Another understated graphic choice-a matt and gloss finish with the iconic plain black base. Shame about the name.”

“A good board in the right conditions, but ’Princess’… really?!

This board favours; freshies, chopped soft snow or soft packed pistes. The 30mm setback made riding powder a blast. The raised nose made the ride feel floaty and had little trouble keeping on top of the surface in the soft stuff.

“However, you’ve just got to be aware that when it comes to really icy conditions, it’ll get pretty unstable and chattery”

This 30mm setback, on top of the lightness made for a great ride in powder. However, you’ve just got to be aware that when it comes to really icy conditions, it’ll get pretty unstable and chattery – I felt like this was comparable to what it’s like riding my splitboard on hard pistes.

On well-groomed pistes, the Princess gave a stable ride on an edge and carved really well. In forgiving snow you can really rack up some speed and feel in control as it holds its line well.

It’s quite stiff to press and you have to put in a lot of effort to get the pop you want out of this board. However even though it’s not its forte so you can still get a butter out of it.

Overall this is a great freeride board and one to hoon around the pistes when the conditions are on point!”
