The K2 Simple Pleasures sits in the Enjoyer’s Collection as king of the corduroy, a hard charging, crud smashing, trench digging whippet of a snowboard, wrapped in a lurid 80’s synth pop package. Simply put, this thing rips from first lifts to last.
Just looking at the shape, you can tell that the Simple Pleasures is built for a specific type of rider. When you strap into it you can expect to be hauling ass down freshly groomed pistes, laying into flat out carves and paying non-stop visits to the white room.
“King of the corduroy, a hard charging, crud smashing, trench digging whippet of a snowboard”
The big rockered nose is ideal for sniffing out powder stashes and thanks to the 2.2cm taper, cut out tail, and mid wide waist width, you’ve got a board that’ll float far better than it has any right to at that size.
These features don’t just come into play when it’s nipple deep and still spewing, they also make the Simple Pleasures an absolute pleasure, on piste. The wider body is ideal for avoiding toe drag when you’re getting elbows down into your carves, but it’s not so wide that your edge to edge transitions become unwieldly. The narrow tail adds manoeuvrability to the back foot, so you can pump your turns with less effort and throw up fat slashes to your hearts content.
“Bamboo is known for its durability and elasticity under pressure, making it an ideal material in the production of snowboard cores”
Profile wise the Simple Pleasures is the only one of their Enjoyer’s Collection to use K2’s Directional Camber. The camber stretches down to the contact points in the tail, for a lively and aggressive ride when you want to push it, with smooth turn initiation from the rockered nose, then rock solid edge hold throughout the arc and release.
The Simple Pleasures isn’t as aggressive as some chargers, but it’s still got the minerals to stand up against the heavy hitters thanks to the well thought out construction. Bamboo is known for its durability and elasticity under pressure, making it an ideal material in the production of snowboard cores. It’ll hold up better than a lot of other types of wood, so that snappy rebound you know and love, will last run after run. The super slick sintered base promises only one speed: top. (The lycra is optional, the face melting speed, however, is not.)
A saucy looking topsheet is always cool, but what really slaps is a banging base graphic and the Simple Pleasures delivers in style. This 80’s synth pop colourway is just begging for a fat method off a windlip…a simple thing done well really is one of the greatest joys in life.
