UPDATE: Check out our review of the 2019/2020 K2 Simple Pleasures here
The K2 Simple Pleasures fully won us over in its debut year, a worthy addition to the Enjoyer series of short, fun-forward powder boards. Odd, then, that K2 has completely overhauled it for 2018/19. The outline is the same, but plenty isn’t.
Last year it was only available as either a 151 or a 156, both of which were wider than average in order to compensate for the reduced surface area (something K2 calls ‘Volume Shift’). While we were initially delighted to see the range extended from two sizes to five, it’s now a little more common-or-garden. Even the 163W version isn’t as wide as the old 151.

That’s not necessarily a bad thing – there’s a reason ‘standard’ snowboard sizing hasn’t changed much in decades. What the K2 Simple Pleasures now lacks in manoeuvrability, it has gained in edge-to-edge response and stability at speed.
It’ll razz along comfortably thanks to the directional, tapered shape, aided in no small part by the carbon-enhanced sintered base. As for the core, the bamboo construction is not only light, it’s strong enough to be backed by a five-year warranty.
Unlike fellow Enjoyer series boards the Cool Bean and the Party Platter, it has proper camber rather than a flat base. Each have their advantages, but if you want to carve up the piste as well as blast through pow then the new-look K2 Simple Pleasures would be the sensible choice.
