The Ladies Choice is one of the three Jamie Anderson inspired snowboards in Gnu’s lineup. It’s aimed at the all-mountain rider but with a hybrid camber and twin shape, its not hiding its freestyle abilities.

Most of the Ladies Choice’s character comes from its hybrid camber profile which, in this case, means rocker between the feet and camber on either side. The C2X (no prizes for guessing the x stands for X-TREME!) version has more pronounced rocker and camber sections, equating to more performance throughout the board’s running length. More manouverability from the middle and more power from the nose and tail during a turn. When riding in the park the rockered side of its personality gives it press-ability on features and forgiveness on landings, and the camber helps to lock rails underfoot and hold a line on take off.

Any all-mountain snowboard worth its salt is comfortable laying down some carved turns and to that end Gnu have made the Ladies Choice asymmetrical. By shortening the sidecut and making the heel edge softer you can get the same carving performance from the heel side as you normally expect from the toe edge.

Everything else you would expect from a high-end board is packed into the Ladies Choice. The wood core is made lighter without softening the mid stiffness flex by adding balsa to the paulownia and aspen mix. The Eco-Sublimated sintered base is fast and as good at retaining wax as it is for the environment, and of course the serrated Magne-Traction edges give you crampon like hold on the ice.

Tester’s Verdict 2019/20

I know I’m late to the Ladies Choice party but omg this board is breathtakingly good! Everyone’s always seemed to be super stoked on this board so I’m happy I finally overcame my “not too keen on the design – not going to ride it” issues.
I rode 145.5 sized Ladies Choice and it was perfect for my daily purpose – mellow park laps in January. Luckily, I got to jump on this thing again closer to spring and found it to be super solid on slushy bumpy snow too.

“The Ladies choice felt really stable on the pistes too, and I really loved taking this thing for a spin”

The Ladies choice felt really stable on the pistes, and I really loved taking this thing for a spin. It made every ride feel enjoyable, and even if I rode it quite short, I didn’t feel any lack of stability, which is another great plus.
If you’re all for cruising and having a great time I bet, you’d love this thing. The graphics are a bit out there, but I highly recommend that you get over yourself and give this board a go.

“The Ladies Choice was an absolute pleasure to ride. A veritable Jill-of-all-trades, it injected a major dose of fun into the day and didn’t stop surprising me the whole time. I absolutely can’t fault it.

This is a complete quiver killer. From early morning icy piste runs, to jibbing around, to sailing through powder, the Ladies Choice left me with no doubt in my mind that this is one of the best snowboards on the market. It has more pop than the Spice Girls, had me flying over any little side hit, and turned the whole piste into a fun park.

“The morning was pretty sketchy and icy, and the edges just dug down and gripped with ease”

The morning was pretty sketchy and icy, and the edges just dug down and gripped with ease, leaving me super confident. Even as the day wore on and the snow started getting heavy and slushy, I had no issues with the board slowing down – the super fast base kept up with ease.

I loved everything about this board, from the graphics, to the eco-friendly ethos, to the unreal day of riding I had. I give it 11 out of 10, and implore you to get out and get on this board!”
