If you’ve only got room in your board bag for one stick, it had best be able to do a bit of everything. That’s certainly true of the Gnu Gnuru snowboard, which has what it takes to keep any rider happy whatever the conditions.

“Whether you’re goofy or regular, you get a tighter sidecut on the heelside that really boosts your turns”

As the graphic makes clear, the Gnu Gnuru is an asymmetric twin. Whether you’re goofy or regular, you get a tighter sidecut on the heelside that really boosts your turns. The core has been tweaked accordingly, with softer wood on the heelside, but overall it’s fairly average-flexing – perfect for an all-rounder.

The profile has a pronounced rocker section between the feet, which makes for easy buttering and better powder float than the average twin board. Then you’ve got mellower camber sections on either side of the central bend, which grip the piste solidly with help from the Magne-Traction edges. All that asym goodness would be wasted without the necessary edge bite, so you’ll be pleased the Gnu Gnuru has the wavy ones that have been proven to work wonders on firmer snow.

Those who are still working on the fundamentals will find a lot to like in the easy-going Gnu Gnuru, whilst seasoned shredders will find it to be a great one-board solution for the whole winter. For larger-footed riders there’s a mid-wide version available too.

Tester’s Verdict

Jon Birdldmountaincentre.com

The Gnu Gnuru is all about progression; a mellow one-board quiver that can handle everything. A go-anywhere all mountain freestyle snowboard, it’s ideal for your first ollie off a side hit or charging a park line of booters and getting off axis.

“The Gnuru a great board for anyone, whether a seasoned pro or a fairly new rider buying their first setup”

The C2 profile delivers just the right amount of pop and response, giving the end users the perfect blend of playfulness and aggression. The Gnuru a great board for anyone, whether a seasoned pro or a fairly new rider buying their first setup.
