The Details:
Regular readers of the Whitelines Gear Guide will be familiar with the skull graphic on the CAPiTA Ultrafear by now. As park boards go, it’s always been one of our favourites, so we’re delighted to see it coming back for another winter.
With its mostly-flat base it’s perfect for rails, banishing hang-ups and allowing for heavy presses on its rocker sections at the nose and tail. Expect relatively good float in powder, too, with a lot of the work taken out of keeping that front end up. This is really for park and urban days, however, built to handle bone-shaking landings all day.
Thanks to getting their Mothership up and running, CAPiTA have been able to give most of their boards an upgrade for 2016/17, and the Ultrafear is no exception. The combination of triaxal and biaxal fibreglass layers are bound with their new ‘Evo Resin’, made from plants and extremely durable. Also, the new base is both super-quick and tough as nails, so there’s no excuse not to take this to the streets as well as the park.
Given that it’s for the jibbers out there, it veers towards the shorter sizes, but larger-footed riders can pick up the wide version complete with natty red print.
