Why we chose the Burton Storyboard Snowboard: Freestyle friendly freeride board for females.

The female edition to Burton’s premium pow-chasing line – the Story Board. This female specific powder chaser is one of the three female boards that’s earned their place in Burton’s outstanding Family Tree line, and with good reason. This story has only been sold for two years, and we can’t see it coming to an end anytime soon.

“The camber under the backfoot allows for more pop in the tail, whilst the rocker-camber blend in the slightly longer nose provides stability and a floaty feel”

The Burton Story Board is undoubtedly a freeride snowboard. With a directional shape, setback camber and a crescent tail, this board is one to take out on a powder day. The camber under the backfoot allows for more pop in the tail, whilst the rocker-camber blend in the slightly longer nose provides stability and a floaty feel.

Burton’s managed to combine the perfect ratio of lightness and stiffness into this masterpiece. The 700g core is a combination of stronger and lighter woods placed precisely where needed in order for the board to provide snap and pop without weighing a ton. It’s the perfect board to hike up with, and of course, ride down with.

The 35mm setback on the Story Board makes it easier to charge in the backcountry but doesn’t make it impossible to go full send on the groomers too. This is definitely one of Burton’s Family Line’s more freestyle friendly freeride boards, so the all-mountain claim Burton’s made on this one can actually be considered legit. The positive camber profile lets you turbo charge your ollies and you’ll be boosting off sidehits with ease.

Burton’s gone completely lacquer-less with their topsheets for this season and the matte topsheet design looks really good on the Story Board. Not only is Burton making a change for the better when it comes to environmental matters, they’ve also managed to create this cool new design for their snowboards.

This story may not be one to win a ‘Nobel Prize for Literature’ anytime soon, but it does get to claim something way more impressive – a spot in our Whitelines 100. The Burton Story Board is ideal for the powder chasing ladies out there who are looking for a solid companion to keep them from sinking on the deepest of days.

Tester’s Verdict

Stella PenttiWhitelines

“I was lucky enough to take the Story Board out during the first week of January during the massive dump in Austria (also known as the “sorry guys, we’ve got too much snow and we don’t know how to handle this, so we need to shut down the resorts” week). So yes, there was plenty of powder to go around.

“Turning in between trees while floating on puffy snow was really effortless, and the board itself was super easy to handle”

This board is truly a little ripper! Turning in between trees while floating on puffy snow was really effortless, and the board itself was super easy to handle. The Story Board is fun but stable, which makes riding it very enjoyable.

The directional shape lends itself well to charging on piste and I was surprised by how freestyle friendly it was. This is definitely a board I’d recommend for anyone who’s looking for a powder board that works as good on the piste as it does in deep snow.”
