With the most comprehensive selection of women’s boards on the market, there’s a Burton shed stick for everyone – and out of all of them, the Burton Deja Vu could be the one with the widest appeal.

The Burton Deja Vu features the Flying V profile, which is the B’s take on the ‘rocker between the feet, camber on each side’ layout. This provides a more easy-going ride than straight-up camber, as it doesn’t concentrate too much pressure towards the contact points at either end. When you want to press or butter this – and given its relative flexibility and true twin shape, you definitely should – the rocker means it’s a doddle to hold the bend for as long as you wish.

“Given how much good, effective design is on show here , it’s amazing that the Burton Deja Vu costs as little as it does”

Naturally there are still some areas near the nose and tail that make contact with the snow, but don’t expect them to be much bother. They’ve been elongated slightly, meaning they’re much less twitchy but still dig in nicely when you want to engage them. In fact, thanks to the turbo-charged version of Burton’s ‘Frostbite’ edge design, this grips better than you’d expect. The protrusions underneath the bindings have been supersized, which helps to offset the general sacrifice in edge bite that you can get with combo profiles. It’s a ‘best of both worlds’ setup that comes in handy on those slick, sketchy days.

Those wanting to go like the clappers should be aware that it’s no directional charger, although the sintered base will carry you along as fast as you dare. If it’s powder you prefer, the profile makes the Burton Deja Vu float better than the average twin board, and it could open the door to backcountry freestyle.

Given how much good, effective design is on show here – we’ve not even covered the ‘Squeezebox’ core that varies in thickness to save weight and distribute energy efficiently – it’s amazing that the Burton Deja Vu costs as little as it does. Whether you’re an intermediate looking to progress, or a confident rider that wants to expand their horizons, this could be the ideal board with which to make memories.

Tester’s Verdict

Sarah Fish – subvertboardstore.com

If you like it loose then this is definitely the board for you – a one-board wonder for those riders that want to be given a few ‘get out of jail free’ cards along the way.

“The combination of shape, flex and profile make this a true go-anywhere, learn-everything kind of board”

With its wobbly camber and mellow response, its probably the perfect weapon for anyone wanting to spend their season experiencing every bit of terrain a mountain has to offer, from epic powder days to park laps.

The combination of true twin shape, mid flex and Flying V profile make this a true go-anywhere, learn-everything kind of board. If you only have enough cash to buy a good all-rounder, you won’t be disappointed with this one.
