UPDATE: Check out our review of the 2019/2020 Bataleon Mini Shred here
Props to the crew at Bataleon, who this year have slashed the cost of their kids’ snowboard setup. The idea is to get more kids shredding, and there are few boards as likely to help your grom get to grips with all aspects of snowboarding as this one.
The Bataleon Mini Shred kids’ snowboard has a true twin shape, so any kid that’s dying to start doing tricks (which is most of them) will appreciate that. You’ve got to nail the basics first, though, and Bataleon’s Triple Base Technology is idea for that part of the process.
“3BT allows the Bataleon Mini Shred to still have a little bit of camber”
[monetizer101 search=’bataleon mini shred’]
With its raised-up side sections of base, 3BT makes it harder for a Bambi-legged grom to catch an edge. Some brands get round this by making the profile flat or rockered, but 3BT allows the Bataleon Mini Shred to still have a little bit of camber. When your kid really wants to start making proper turns, or ollieing, there’s still no substitute for the classic bend.
It’s now possible to buy the Bataleon Mini Shred board without the accompanying bindings, but our test team certainly gave the full setup a massive thumbs-up – and again, there’s no arguing with that price. For first turns to park laps, this thing is a winner.
