Amplid isn’t a brand that stands still; as well as releasing two new pow shapes this year (including the excellent Amplid Dada), the crew have also moved production to a different factory. It’s nice to see that they haven’t lost their focus on carving models in the mix, though, and nowhere is this better embodied than in the Amplid UNW8 snowboard.
Now over a decade old, the Amplid UNW8 is the lynchpin of the brand’s ‘Centrifugal Collection’. Fans of the carve will love its significant camber bend and high-quality sintered base, both of which are ideal for tearing up groomers.

By replacing some areas of the poplar core with a lightweight honeycomb structure (made from recycled paper, eco fans), the cleaver bods at Amplid have reduced the weight of this board whilst ensuring it remains strong.
While this is first and foremost built for turns, we’re not calling it an all-mountain snowboard for nothing. Carbon stringers running the length of the camber give this crazy pop off park jumps, and the shape of the nose and tail increase the Amplid UNW8’s buoyancy in powder.
Wherever you take it, the dampening system reduces unwanted vibrations, keeping your feet happier for longer. Just as well, as once you’ve put down a few arcs on fresh corduroy with the Amplid UNW8, you’ll be aiming for first lifts every day.
