Respected by his fellow comrades in the industry as a whole, Bryan Iguchi has been developing and testing his signature line with Volcom for years now. The Volcom Guch Stretch Gore Jacket has been and will remain, a favourite of ours for various reasons.
Exploring the backcountry is no joke, as you’re quite literally exposed to whatever Mother Nature decides to throw your way. If you’ve hiked off the beaten path, there isn’t exactly a nice little hut to take a break in when unexpectedly faced with a blizzard – you just need to power through, hence the importance of proper clothing.
“The Volcom Guch Stretch Gore Jacket has been and will remain, a favourite of ours for various reasons”
Gore-Tex is known as the industry leader when it comes to durable outerwear, a reason why the Guch jacket is rigid enough to take on the worst weather. The jacket also does a good job when keeping the elements out, protecting you from wind and snow. Not only does Gore-Tex do a great job when it comes to keeping the elements out, but it’s also breathable, allowing sweat vapour to escape out into the environment – preventing you from feeling discomfort inside the jacket.
The 3-layer model ensures maximum comfort. The Gore-Tex membrane is covered by a soft layer to make the jacket feel more enjoyable on the skin. This membrane also helps in transferring moisture to the surface of the jacket more efficiently.
Whilst having all the essential characteristics to make it a worthy backcountry jacket, it’s also just got a load of really great features on top of that like the black balaclava you can find tucked away inside the hood. In addition to the jacket comes with a c reflector, hood adjustment, goggle pocket, zippered lift pass pocket in the sleeve, a chin guard made out of suede and a zip tech to connect the jacket with the pants to keep snow from getting in and warmth from getting out.
With enhanced breathability, mobility and ventilation, designed and tested by Bryan Iguchi himself, the Volcom Guch Stretch Gore jacket should be right near the top of your shortlist when you’re contemplating your next backcountry buy.
