Why we chose the Oakley Sage Kotsenburg Sub Temp RC Gore-Tex Jacket and Gore Pant Snowboard Outerwear: Equipped for backcountry missions and designed together with Sage Kotsenburg, this outfit is guaranteed to keep you dry and warm for years to come.

Sage Kotsenburg, one of the greatest snowboarders of all time, made a 180 after winning Olympic gold in 2014 and decided to quit the comp scene and focus more on backcountry riding.

For season 21/22, Oakley’s line caters for the specific needs of their team athletes, including Sage. Every line tells a different story, and Sage’s one is about exploring beyond the beaten path. With sustainability in mind, Oakley’s developed something that is both rigid and warm – the Sage Kotsenburg Sub Temp RC Gore-Tex Jacket and the Sage Kotsenburg Sub Temp RC Gore-Tex Pants.

Who Are The Oakley Sage Kotsenburg Sub Temp RC Gore-Tex Jacket and Gore Pant For?

Made for the people who take their backcountry missions seriously and designed to keep you dry whether blasting through nipple deep pow.

It isn’t just about staying dry though, as this outfit has also been designed with warmth in mind. If no stranger to spending hours trying to catch the perfect photo or building your own kicker in minus degrees, you want to make sure you’re dressed for it.

Materials and Construction

Both the jacket and the pants are made from 100% recycled polyester and bluesign approved. By using post-consumer plastic bottles for the fabric, Oakley isn’t just helping to further prevent landfills from overflowing, but also reducing CO2 emission in the air.

By choosing Gore-Tex, Oakley has set a high standard for this outfit as it is guaranteed to keep both water and wind from getting through while also being extremely breathable. For added warmth, the Sub Temp RC jacket has been blessed with 80G insulation while the pants are equipped with slightly lighter, 60G, insulation.

The outerwear has also been treated with a Durable Water Repellent coating to prevent the outer fabric from picking up water on the surface. However, DWR often includes PFCs of Environmental Concern (chemicals not good for the environment or humans). But, as part of Oakley’s journey towards a more eco-friendly future, Oakley is on a mission to eliminate PFCs from the life cycle of all their products.

Fit and Features

Designed with a performance fit, both the jacket and the pants come in a slightly slimmer silhouette. For added mobility, stretch fabric has been used for the jacket, making it more comfortable to move around in.

As far as details go, there are plenty to be found in both the jacket and the pants. The jacket comes with a detachable hood, armpit vents with mesh for added breathability, a zippered chest pocket and hand pockets, an inner pocket to keep your phone safe and a removable snow skirt.

For the pants, Oakley’s added a backer lining technology to protect the membrane from abrasion on the inside and for easier movement. The pants also feature an adjustable waistband with belt loops, front pockets, inner thigh ventilation and a zip opening in the hem.
