Holden makes some of the best-looking outerwear around; bold enough to stand out, but subtle enough for day-to-day use off the mountain. It’s a tricky thing to get right, but it looks like 2018/19’s collection is no exception.
Take the Holden M-51 3-Layer Fishtail snowboard jacket, for example. That fishtail design will suit your pow board nicely, but if you’d prefer something more conventional then that’s no problem; just tie it up and you’ve got a standard straight cut back there.
“In blizzard conditions you’ll be glad of the high collar, which guards pretty much everything below the line of your goggles”

Aesthetics aside, this is definitely built for the mountain. On top of the triple-layered outer fabric’s impressive 20K/20K specs, the Holden M-51 also has fully taped seams. The chest pocket and the underarm vents both feature YKK Aquaguard waterproof zips too, so when the storm hits you’ll be able to shrug it off.
Wrist gaiters are pretty common these days, so it’s no surprise to see them on the sleeves of this one. However, special care has been made to ensure these ones are extra comfy, which is definitely a good thing (especially if you’ve ever used a jacket with cheap, brittle ones). Combined with the powder skirt, you’re positively pow-proof.
Pockets-wise the Holden M-51 has two ‘handwarmer’ ones on the front, as well as a liftpass pocket on the sleeve and an interior media pocket (complete with headphone access). There’s also the aforementioned weatherproof chest pocket on the left hand side.
