The waterproof/breathability rating differs depending on what colourway you choose to go for with an 8K/10K for the white/printed fabric and a 10K/12K for the darker black and grey ones.

As a rule of thumb, for a pair of snowboard pants to be considered waterproof the rating must be at a minimum of 5K, meaning the Brethren joggers are a fine choice even for the slushier snow days. They won’t hold up too well outside the resort boundary but that’s ok, it’s not what they’re made for.

In general, softshell pants are designed with breathability in mind. Much like a fleece, they wick sweat from the layers underneath and push it to the outer layer, where it then spreads out and evaporates. On top of that, a softshell material is generally more comfortable than hardshell fabric, whilst the softer material also makes it much easier to move about.
