New for this season, Brethren Apparel introduces their unisex Softshell Anorak and Softshell Joggers to the line. Famous for their Thug Rugs, Brethren decided to expand into the outerwear game last year and for 20/21 they’re back with more.

‘Built for the hill and 420 friendly’, as Brethren puts it, the Softshell Anorak is like a breath of fresh air. It isn’t the most technical jacket on the market but, then again, it isn’t made for getting technical in so that’s alright.

The waterproof / breathability rating varies between 8K/10K and 10K/12K depending on what colourway you’re going for. Nevertheless, the ratings are exactly what you’ll need from a snazzy looking anorak that you can cruise the resort, lap the park, or chill with an ice cold beer in.

The beauty of the softshell jacket is its comfort and breathability. A soft woven material often allows for more motion than a traditional hardshell one. It also doesn’t rustle so you won’t be bothered by any noise either. The fit itself is also baggier, meaning you’ll be able to layer up more underneath when needed.

Brethren’s also added a kangaroo pouch with an integrated map flap to keep you from losing your way or the hill. Alternatively, store whatever the hell you want in there. It’s your anorak.

As for additional features, the fully opening side zips are great for easy access, while the second puller allows you to convert them into armpit vents too. The adjustable hood makes it easier to optimise the size to match your helmet while the elasticated gaiters and thumbholes at the double cuffs add to the jacket’s comfort.

This is only Brethren’s second season in the outerwear game, and we can’t wait to see what other treats this brand has up their sleeves for the seasons yet to come.
