Why We Chose The Beyond Medals Full Zip Jacket and Zip Pants: It’s good to see a small snowboarder-owned clothing brand making quality outerwear and building a name for them in the industry. We want to show them the support and recognition they deserve.

Nearly a decade has passed since Kevin Backström and Tor Lundström started ‘Beyond Medals’. Since then, we’ve seen the crew grow and multiple sick edits drop, not to mention their clothing line that’s grown to be beyond successful in the last few years. From t-shirts and hoodies to high-quality snowboard outerwear, Beyond Medals is slowly but surely claiming their spot in the outerwear industry.

Who Are The Beyond Medals Full Zip Jacket and Zip Pants For?

This outfit is for the mellow cruiser who’s equally keen to ride through the resort as they are to take the occasional spin through some fresh backcountry pow. A clean-cut without all the extra faff, this unisex outfit provides just the right amount of tech and style for the ones riding ‘beyond medals’.

Materials and Construction

Both the jacket and the pants are offered as a 2L shell. The durable exterior fabric keeps the elements at bay and prevents the water and wind from getting through to the inner layer, which is where the actual waterproofing happens. In this case, we’re looking at a 15K waterproof rating, which is more than enough to secure a dry ride. On top of that, the 15K breathability rating lets the moisture created within, evaporate out into the thin air and keep you dry on the inside too.

For added comfort and tweakability, mechanical stretch fabric has been used, adding a horizontal 2 way stretch to the fabric, making it easier to move in.

On top of that, the fabric is made of 100% recycled polyester. Recycled polyester is made from used plastic bottles, which isn’t just a great way to divert plastic from the landfills, but the production of rPet also requires fewer resources than producing virgin polyester whilst also generating less CO2 emissions. Happy snowboarder, happy planet.

Fit and Features

The unisex fit will sit slightly baggier on the females than it does on the men. However, the overall baggy fit of the outerwear has such a nice cut to it, that it still manages to compliment the rider and not look like you’re drowning in it.

As for features, the jacket is equipped with taped zippers for added waterproofing, underarm vents for an added breeze, an elastic snowstopper for keeping the snow out, wrist gaiters, a media pocket, a goggle pocket, a pocket for the lift ticket, and drawstring hems.

The pants also come with taped zippers, zipped vents and an elastic snowstopper. To make it easier to adjust the pants to your waist, they’re also equipped with an adjustable waistband so you can adjust the waist without having to worry about getting an additional belt. On top of that, the pants have got a back pocket, hand pockets and a zipped pocket on the right leg for plenty of storage.

Roundup

We’ve seen how well the Beyond Medals t-shirts and hoodies went down with the crowd, and we’re stoked to see that they are expanding their offerings to technical outerwear. These guys know what they are doing, and a snowboarder-owned-snowboarder-driven brand is always a welcomed plus in this industry, so let’s support them and let’s support snowboarding.

Pros:

  • We’re big fans of this cut – a baggy well-fitted cut that manages to compliment the figure – and it’s unisex
  • Snowboarder-owned-snowboarder-driven

Cons:

  • The sizes run quite baggy, so the smaller ladies might run the risk of drowning in this. Why not offer it in XS as well?
