Coming out of the North American outdoor capital of Boulder, Colorado, Zeal Optics was founded back in 1997 by avid outdoor enthusiasts. They keep that energy up to this day, providing high quality eyewear for those who like to live adventurously.
One big standout feature in Zeal’s goggle line is the ground-breaking, potentially game-changing, ‘Observation Deck Technology’. This tilted cylindrical polycarbonate lens offers a far larger field of vertical peripheral vision. It’s touted to increase your range of vision a whopping 20%. In laymans terms, basically the lens bends underneath where the bottom rim usually sits like a ‘J’ shape giving you more to play with. It allows you to see more of the line below you while simultaneously blocking direct light and eliminating reflection from your cheeks.
Zeal’s goggles are available with three different tiers of lenses; Optimum, Optimum Polarized and Optimum Polarized Automatic + (Or ‘good, better, best’). Each comes with 100% UV protection as standard, with Zeal’s Everclear Anti-Fog molecules permanently infused into lens material and Permashield Hardcoat offering long term scratch free durability.
The motto you’ll find associated with Zeal is ‘Use Less. Give Back. Explore More.’ And they stick to their guns with this one, they’re part of 1% For The Planet, partners in POW, and work with organisations that promote social change. Goggle straps are also made with Sorona rather than nylon, the production of which boasts a significantly reduced carbon footprint and use plant-based materials in their sunglasses frames.
