This yellow cocoon screams comfort and warmth, and very much looks like a safe haven to nest in after a heavy night out. The Adidas Mid Layer Prima Jacket is ideal to use as a comforting mid-layer or simply on its own, making it a great option for you both on and off the mountain.
Mid-layers are made to keep you warm. However, you need to be aware of the conditions you’re most likely to be snowboarding to best be able to choose the right mid-layer for you.
“This yellow cocoon screams of comfort and warmth”
For the Mid Layer Prima Jacket Adidas has chosen to go with a synthetic down insulation, using Primaloft Silver insulation. Synthetic insulation is ideal when you’re somewhere with wet/humid and cold conditions, as it retains warmth even when exposed to moisture – something natural down fails to do.
Synthetic insulation is rated in gram weights, so the 120g fill of the Prima jacket means that a 1 meter by 1 meter piece of the insulation weighs 120g (in layman’s terms, it’s pretty damn warm).
The downfall with synthetic insulation is that it doesn’t pack as small as down. Unless you’re planning on packing for a long backcountry excursion though, you’ll be just fine.
Adding to its list of impressive characteristics, this yellow cocoon has also been treated with DWR coating – meaning the jacket repels water to a higher standard. There’re also two zipped side pockets, where you can either store your snack bars or simply nest your hands as and when.
If you’re residing in climates where things tend to get extremely frosty in winter, you might want to look elsewhere for superior warmth. However, the Adidas Mid Layer Prima Jacket is a fine way to stay warm for nearly everyone who isn’t planning to tackle some serious, serious, cold. Also, it looks rad.
