Sungod Revolt 2018-2019 Snowboard Goggles Review

On the surface of it, UK-based eyewear company Sungod currently only makes one pair of goggles – but thanks to a modular system, these can look however you want them to (provided you dig a spherical lens).

Among the options for strap design is a Freeride World Tour collab – SunGod is one of the sponsors, and counts regular podium-botherer Thomas Furstein among its team members. There are loads of others to choose from, and modulating your setup with different components to match the conditions (or your outfit) is easy.

Whichever design of the Sungod Revolt goggles you go for, you get a high-contrast lens with a near-frameless look. The main body of the lens is nice and flexible to suit any face, and the triple-layer face foam keeps you comfortable.

Durability is a key factor here too. The lenses are highly resistant to scratches and scuffs, and both the lenses and frames have been subjected to extensive impact testing. These should be able to walk away from the heaviest of slams, even if you don’t.

It’s clearly not just empty talk, either. On the subject of the Sungod Revolt goggles’ lifetime warranty, here’s the official word: “If they break (or you break them) we will repair your Revolts free of charge”). Nice!

Tester’s Verdict

Andrew Duthiewhitelines.com

“As someone who prefers a spherical lens, I got on well with these.

These use a classic notch system for changing the lens, but with those little quotation mark-like fasteners providing a bit of extra purchase on either side. You just twist them and the lens will start to pop out easily, but leave them be and it won’t budge. If you’ve ever felt that frameless goggs lacked a bit of extra reassurance against heavy yard-sale slams, here’s your answer.

The strap can be released from the frame quickly and easily, should you wish to buy a spare and occasionally change them up. It’s not a feature I’ve ever personally hankered after, but if that’s your thing then the system works like a charm.

Elsewhere these have a good features package; triple-layer face foam, silicon grips on the strap, good venting and – above all – crystal clear visuals. Solid, nicely priced, and tons of lens/frame/strap combos to choose from.”
