Our pick of this season's best SPY+ snowboard gear

Purveyors of premium eyewear, SPY+ was born in California in the mid 90s, and in the following three decades they’ve become one of the most well respected goggle and sunglass manufacturers in the game. They boast an impressive pro team with the likes of Manboy Chris Rasman and E Jack both rocking SPY+ goggs on the hill.

Their patented “Happy Lens’ technology is the main talking point here, SPY+ claim to have fully cracked the formula. The lenses block out harmful UV rays, but allow long-wave blue light to pass through. The result is colour contrast and enhanced vision, but also purportedly mood enhancing capabilities, which is where the name ‘Happy Lens’ comes from. SPY+ claim their products make you more alert and boost your wellbeing, just by wearing them.

For 22/23 SPY+ have had their best ever year to date, taking two coveted spots in the Whitelines 100. Their Monolith 50/50 sunnies were a hit with our crew in Flachau, earning some serious style points on sunny spring afternoons. And the Marauder Elite goggles performed best in class in a huge range of conditions.

SPY+ has a sizeable range of products to suit every budget and aesthetic and you can be sure you’re getting a whole load of bang for your buck when you purchase a pair of SPY’S+.

Spy Marauder Elite Snow Goggles 2022-2023

Whitelines Choice Winner: Best Snow Goggle 22/23
Price: €190-€220

The Spy Marauder Elite is, as you might have guessed, a step up from the Marauder. Using that well-loved model as a solid foundation, Spy has pushed the boat out with an upgraded lens design and access to the next level of the brand’s proprietary lens tech.

Who Are the Spy Marauder Elite Goggles For?

Unlike most snowboard hardware, when it comes to goggles you don’t have to be any good to appreciate a high-end model – everyone likes to see well, right? Having said that, more confident riders will get the most out of this peak-performance (and quite flashy-looking) pair from Spy.

Spy+ x Club Midnite Raider Snow Goggles 2022-2023

San Diego-based brand Club Midnite set the skate world alight with their retro-style tees and hats. This season, Spy+ teamed up with these guys to create arguably the raddest goggles around. Inspired by the No Limit/Cash Money album covers of the ‘90s, they’ve decked out these goggles with a Cuban links print strap and dazzling gold lenses. Don’t fret, they haven’t forgone substance for style. Premium dual lenses provide optimal clarity for spotting your next line, whilst the moisture-wicking face foam and large vents prevent them from fogging up. No doubt you’ll get a few looks on the hill in these bling bad boys.

Spy Monolith 50/50 2022-2023 Snowboard Sunglasses 2022-2023

Price: €140

Spy is one of the leading names in snowboard goggles, as you’ll see if you take a wander over to that section of the Whitelines 100. Like most gogg-floggers, though, it also does a fine line in sunglasses. After all, the principles are essentially the same; comfort and style, but above all, optics.

Who Are the Spy Monolith 50/50 sunglasses For?

All snowboarders should have a good pair of sunnies on hand, for the times when they’re preferable to goggles. We’re thinking not just of splitboard ascents, but also late-season park sessions when it’s all about hiking a rail line or pipe. With the Monolith, you won’t have to then re-goggle for the way down; just ride in these!
