Hana Beaman is a staight-up living legend. A stalwart of the Vans team since 2001, she enjoyed years at the top of the competitive circuit before switching focus to the powder, where she continues to kill it. We can’t wait to see her contribution to Leanne Pelosi’s Full Moon project, in which she’ll be sporting her new pro model boot.
“Should you wish to focus on charging, tongue stiffeners can be easily slipped down the front of the boot to increase response”
The Vans Ferra is the first boot in the brand’s female line to feature their ‘Hybrid Boa’ lacing system. You get that classic look and feel of a chunky lace (which in this case is a rather fetching purple-and-white colour), with a functional speed lace on the inner. While that’s long been a winning combination on its own, there’s also a Boa wire that passes across the top of the ankle joint. With a twist of the coiler on the side of the boot, you can set the wire to the exact level of tension that’s comfortable. The wire passes through guiding channels across the top of the boot, giving you an even distribution of pressure and increased heel hold.
A customised fit is all but guaranteed, then, so you’ll have no call to take a comfort break mid-session. Clamminess is kept at bay by the moisture-wicking lining, and the flexible material around the toe prevents any unpleasant cramming. Structural elements on the liner sit around the ankle bones to further bolster the heel hold, and it all adds up to happy feet.
