Salomon Hologram 2020-2021 Women’s Snowboard Bindings Review

Why we chose the Salomon Hologram Women’s Snowboard Bindings: They’re looking fresher than ever.

The Salomon Hologram is a mid-flex freestyle focused binding built to provide comfort and performance for riders who want to shred the whole mountain from dawn till dusk.

The Shadow Fit Baseplate creates a natural lightweight feel and connection between your boot, binding and snowboard. The heel cup is completely malleable allowing you to style out your riding without any restrictions. So whether that’s getting stuck into a eurocarve, dropping into a pow line through the trees or tweaking out a method, you can get on with your riding without thinking about your binding holding you back.

The Kevlar Quickwire that surrounds the outer rim of the heel cup provides strength, support and power when transferring from edge to edge. This joint on a binding is usually always the first to blow after you’ve put it through its paces, so great to see Salomon focusing on strengthening this area up for durability and longevity.

Salomon has stuffed this binding full of their most advanced technology whilst keeping the weight down. The Optivibe Basepad cuts precious grams, whilst still bringing the comfort. It offers increased dampening underfoot which is good news for your ankles.

“The footbed is canted, allowing your foot to sit in at an angle to anatomically align your ankles and knees”

The footbed is canted, allowing your foot to sit in at an angle to anatomically align your ankles and knees. Thanks to this slight angling, you can rock a wider stance more comfortably, and drive more power through the binding. You’ll be able to distribute the pressure out to the contact points more evenly, allowing you to get that extra pop off a lip whilst keeping your knees in check.

The asymmetrical design of the highback makes tweaking easier so you can make those grabs look effortless in the air and the locked-up toe and shadow strap creates a snug fit for peace of mind, keeping your boot right where you want it when you’re charging.

If you want a binding that makes you feel free, ups your style whilst delivering on maximum performance and comfort you could be onto a winner with the Hologram.

Tester’s Verdict 2019/20

“You’d probably be fine sleeping with these bindings attached to your feet and still manage to not have sore feet the next day, that is the level of comfort the Salomon Hologram bindings provide. The super soft heelcup does feel a bit odd at first but once you’re used to it, it seems like the most natural thing ever.

I’ve ridden the Hologram bindings before, and this year’s model was as good as ever. They work as brilliantly for cruising the piste as for riding powder and hitting any odd side-hits around. What never ceases to amaze me is how these bindings are equally comfortable while also providing great response. The fact that they are easily adjustable is also a plus, so if something feels a bit off, it doesn’t take much effort to adjust the bindings.

If you’re looking for a pair of bindings you can spend your days in without feeling the need to complain about how your feet are cramping, these things will keep your feet immensely satisfied.”

“The Salomon Hologram is a super cool binding to ride because it really feels different to most other bindings on the market. I felt a bit weird at first looking at the Shadowfit heelcup; it looks like it’ll break the first turn you put in, but it was super solid from edge to edge and gave great response.

“The heelcup allowed for so much more flexibility and manoeuvrability”

The heelcup flexed really nicely as you were going nose to tail, allowing for so much more flexibility and manoeuvrability then I was used to having. The padding felt nice and absorbent underfoot and kept me comfy the whole day.

The screws are attached to the binding so you can’t lose them- perfect for those mid-day adjustments on the hill! The highback felt pretty mid-flex which was nice to be able to ride everywhere without feeling like it was lacking.”
