Ride Rodeo 2015-2016 Snowboard Binding Review

UPDATE: Check out our review of the 2018/2019 Ride Rodeo here

The Ride Rodeo binding is a favourite of the brand’s pro team, which includes heavy hitters like Yuki Kadono and Spencer Schubert. It’s got a fairly soft flex, but there’s nothing flimsy about it – even if you want to lap the XL line, this will do the job.

The wide highback offers plenty of support when you need it, and is stiff enough from top to bottom to help you dial in those high-speed heelside carves.

However, it’s a lot more malleable from side to side, offering the ability to really tweak out when you want to. Great for both ripping the piste and getting airborne, then – but really it’s the latter that you want to be focusing on.

With plenty of aluminium in the construction, it’s nice and lightweight without feeling anything less than solid when you’re putting down big landings.

The asymmetrical ankle strap has been carried over for another season, and falls away from the baseplate when not in use – and if days of park laps mean that you’re forever taking out that back foot, that’ll prove to be useful.

Freestyle fiends will get on well with this, but this would also suit those who prefer turns to triple corks.

Sam McMahon – Whitelines

“Just like the board of the same name in the Nitro lineup, the Team bindings are about as simple and classic as you could wish for.

“A solid, freestyle binding that’s fast becoming a classic, and cheap as chips too! Well, OK, they’d have to be pretty good chips for that price, but for a binding we’re stoked on this price point.

Nice lateral flex but solid edge-to-edge, these are perfect for park riders but would also be a great addition to any freeriders that like to butter and pop off anything powdery.

Downsides? The aluminium baseplate means that as they get older, they’re likely to start tugging screws out of the base, but for this price I’d take another pair next winter!”
