We’ll never be a fan of the name, but there’s a reason we keep coming back to the Drake Super Sport snowboard bindings on test days. Solid, techy and built for aggressive riding, they are just the thing for screwing onto a stiff carving machine.
Drake’s signature billboard-style aluminium heelcup is present and correct once again. It’s part of the ‘Light Saber’ chassis which minimises contact with your board, and features several customisation options. That heel cup, for example, can be set to one of three positions to ensure the perfect fit with your boot.

The highback has a strong, spine-like section of tougher material running right down its considerable length, so when you want to fully crank a turn then it’s got you covered. Unlike some, however, it’s not fully rigid from side to side. There’s a bit more freedom of movement on offer, which will help when you’re shifting your weight as you ride.
While the toe strap is on the minimal side, the ankle strap is anything but. Upgraded for 2018/19, it’s designed to give you all the support and comfort you need when redlining. Ratchet guides reduce the chance of damage to the ladders too.
They’re not exactly buttery, but that was never the intention with the Drake Super Sport. For something that can handle more serious terrain without rattling your foot-bones, here’s a pair to consider.
