Bent Metal Metta 2019-2020 Women’s Snowboard Bindings Review

Why we chose the Bent Metal Metta Snowboard Bindings: Comfortable AF with a dope ass design.

We bet quite a few women out there are stoked to hear that Bent Metal have decided to expand their line with an additional female snowboard binding. Everyone’s been stoked on the Bent Metal Upshot, especially the ladies who like to rip the park, but now these binding barons are introducing their all-round female binding, the Bent Metal Metta, to the world.

The Metta bindings aren’t much stiffer than the Upshots, but still noticeably more all-mountain specific. With a mid-flex rate, you’ll get the best of both words – a binding that’s forgiving enough for the freestyle friendly females to enjoy, while still offering something for the ladies who crave a more responsive ride.

“What makes these bindings ideal for all-mountain riders is the combination of the drive plate and the highbacks”

What makes these bindings ideal for all-mountain riders is the combination of the drive plate and the highbacks. The drive plate is constructed using a combination of boron fibres and poly core, while the top sheet is made out of an eco-sublimated material. This results in a medium flex pattern and makes the binding more suited for versatile riders.

In addition to the ideal all-rounder drive plate, these beauties have been blessed with Bent Metal’s nylon highbacks. Engineered with Nylon polymer, they’re blessed with a medium flex. These all-pleasing prodigies also come in the two most basic colours known to mankind – black and white.

“Adding comfort to these diverse doves are the lightweight mobility ankle straps”

Adding comfort to these diverse doves are the lightweight mobility ankle straps. In addition to comfort, they also provide a damp and forgiving ride while the toe strap’s light moulded grip makes sure the strap will stay in place. Like being in a really fun Alcatraz, there’s no escape and you’ll be perfectly secure.

The Bent Metal Metta bindings are tuned to a perfect all mountain medium flex. If you’re one to enjoy a varied day of ride, or simply unsure about what floats your boat (or board), these beauties work as well for a lap around the park with the boys as they do for a mellow cruise about the piste.

Tester’s Verdict

Stella PenttiWhitelines

“To be fair, I’m a big fan of the Bent Metal Upshot’s so I was super keen to try out this new addition to the Bent Metal ladies’ range. I rode the Metta’s together with quite a stiff board, and that set up itself was probably one of the best one’s I’ve had the whole season.

“Not only were they ridiculously comfy, but a lot of fun too”

These bindings felt really good on my feet – they were soft and comfortable, and I reckon I could have spent the whole day in them without any cramps. Not only were they ridiculously comfy, but a lot of fun too.

My feet and myself really enjoy being attached to these. I reckon anyone who’s looking for a good pair of all-round bindings would find these to be a bit extra fun. These things worked really good for both powder and piste, and I don’t see why they wouldn’t be ideal for park riders too.”

“I rode these badboys on a Gnu pro Choice and boy oh boy, it’s one of my favourite ever combos. I really enjoy the Upshot, but the Metta has that bit of extra response I was looking for when really gunning it.

“The drive plate gives instant response rather than having a foamy, blobby feeling”

The straps are lightweight and malleable, and they wrapped over my boot without leaving hotspots. I didn’t find the toe straps to be anything super special, but they hold the boot securely which is exactly what you want so I can’t complain.

I like the fact that there isn’t a bunch of excess padding in the footbed, the drive plate gives instant response rather than having a foamy, blobby feeling.

The ratchets are smooth and worked well even when the ladder was iced up. These are a comfortable binding, that offers insane amounts of control and board feel, I’m getting a pair this year for sure. ”
