Following its predecessor’s immediate success, Airblaster decided to tweak the Classic Ninja Suit and provide the ones faced with teeth-shattering cold a more suitable option – the Airblaster Merino Ninja Suit. As the name implies, this suit is made out of a merino wool mix, to keep you warm even when the temperatures drop way below zero.
Merino sheep reside high up in the hills of New Zealand, meaning they’re exposed to some seriously gnarly weather – when it’s cold it is really cold, and when it’s hot it’s absolutely blazing. Thanks to their wool, these badass creatures handle it like it’s no big deal.
“Merino wool has evolved to withstand extremes, it naturally performs better than many other materials used for base layers”
Since merino wool has evolved to withstand extremes, it naturally performs better than many other materials used for base layers. It is warm, it is soft and it is capable of holding 30 per cent of its own weight in water absorption before you can feel the water coming through. It’s incredibly odour resistant.
The Airblaster Merino Ninja Suit is a mixture of 55% merino wool, 37% Tencel and 8% spandex resulting in a blend that is 45% stronger than Merino wool alone (while also drying twice as fast).
By adding their traditional 4-way stretch fabric to the merino wool, Airblaster have created a suit that doesn’t limit your movements. You’ve also got the 350-degree zip and a full-length 2-way zipper, two must-haves if you want to avoid taking it all off when you’ve got to visit the loo.
It may also please you to know, that Airblaster, like the rest of us, is also a firm believer that sheep should be treated with equal rights – which is why they only use non-mulesed wool from New Zealand and Australia in their production.
When faced with extremely cold conditions, backcountry hikes or changing climates, the Airblaster Merino Ninja Suit is your best bet to regulate your body temperature.
