Rome Park Pack 2017-2018 Snowboard Backpack Review

Buying a backpack for snowboarding is similar to choosing your snowboard; at the end of the day, it comes down to what kind of rider you are. There’s an abundance of backcountry-specific packs that will improve your day out of bounds, but the Rome Park Pack is an entirely different beast.

“It’s built of tough stuff, so leaving it in the snow is no big deal, and there’s heaps of pockets for essentials like your board tool or action camera”

The Rome Park Pack snowboard backpack has been around for a few seasons now, so you may already be familiar with it, but it’s looking better than ever in 2017/18. If you’re needing something that ticks all of your own personal boxes on the hill, and can serve a purpose off it too, look no further.

Thanks to the comfy straps and foam panels on the back, you can take the Rome Park Pack around the resort all day. However, as the name suggests, it’s prime function is to stash your shit whilst throwing down on the kickers and rails. It’s built of tough stuff, so leaving it in the snow is no big deal, and there’s heaps of pockets for essentials like your board tool or action camera.

There’s also a laptop sleeve which, while not much use while riding, is invaluable during any long travel to the mountains. It’s also one of the reasons why the Rome Park Pack serves nicely for school or general town use.

“The insulated pocket will keep your post-shred beers chilled until the final lift has stopped spinning”

While it’s far from a backcountry-specific pack, there’s more than enough room for a shovel, probe, supplies and spare layers. Plus the dual straps on the front can take the edge off a long hike (and can also be used for your skateboard later on).

Another excellent feature is the insulated pocket which will keep your post-shred beers chilled from straight out the fridge until the final lift has stopped spinning. Add it all up and the Rome Park Pack has the potential to turn good sessions into great ones.
