The Lily Cam – An Idiot-Proof Follow Drone

Ever been so frustrated with a piece of technology that you just wanted to fling it off a bridge? Good news: a company called Lily (presumably named after this editor’s sister as all she does is traipse after you with a hopeful smile? Sorry, childhood family trauma flashback) have created one of the next generation of automatic camera drones that – in this case – follows a wrist mounted control, capturing any action that may occur in the process.

What this one has over other drones that we’ve heard of so far is that it appears to be totally idiot proof

What this one has over other drones that we’ve heard of so far (lord knows we’ve tried to get our hands on one to test, but up until now manufacturers have been very reluctant) is that it appears to be totally idiot proof. Look! Even that grandma can make it work, and everyone knows that old people are morons right? If one of them can hold off from talking about the war for 10 seconds to drop one towards the ground then even Ski Cunt magazine‘s next cover star could probably get enough from it to make an Insta-edit.

In all seriousness though, it’s pretty incredible what they can do these days – considering that prosumer drones are still around a grand, one as rugged and clever-looking as this for $499 seems almost to good to be true.
