You may have spotted some rather eye-catching goggles on show at Pyeongchang 2018. We hope for your sake that you did, anyway; the number of riders wearing them, combined with the way they clashed with all the national uniforms, meant they were pretty hard to miss.

The Oakley Harmony Fade collection takes the classic models of the Big O’s range (or small O, as Olympic branding rules would have them), and gives them a limited edition colour scheme. The resulting frames covered the peepers of Olympic medallists Chloe Kim, Jamie Anderson and Sebastien Toutant, among others.

Orange is for the fire that burns inside. Yellow for the sun that lights the path of athletes pursuing dreams” – Oakley, in a philosophical mood

Oakley have form in this department – you might recall the neon green makeover that their goggles got for Sochi in 2014. This time they’ve gone a slightly different way, explaining the latest colour choices thusly: “Orange is for the fire that burns inside. Yellow for the sun that lights the path of athletes pursuing dreams“.

Pure poetry, we’re sure you’ll agree – although it was something else entirely that popped into our heads every time we saw them at the Games:

Anyway, you can’t fault their performance – both the Oakley Fall Line and Oakley Line Miner made it into this winter’s Whitelines 100, and we’re also big fans of the Canopy, Flight Deck, Airbrake and A-Frame 2.0. Plus in the ongoing high-contrast-lens arms race, their Prizm version is arguably still the finest around.

To check out the full range of goggles and sunnies, or to pick up a pair of your own, head to the Oakley Harmony Fade snowboard goggles site.
