Nidecker | 2020 – 2021 Snowboard Product Preview

A first look at next season's snowboard gear

For their 2020/21 gear offering, Nidecker has struck that perfect balance between drawing inspiration from the past and reimagining the future. Their presence in the industry now spans over five decades and next season’s line highlights both their legacy so far and the shape of things to come. With new models, tweaked shapes, long-standing classics, redesigned bindings and more, there’s a tonne of gear from Nidecker to fill your wishlist this season.

As a brand whose reputation is arguably more positioned towards performance carving and freeriding, the big news on the snowboard front actually comes in the form of the new Sensor Plus. This true twin, fully cambered, stiffened up version of its predecessor is designed for freestyle riders looking to push their riding to bigger features. Thanks to its SideKick tech, it still offers forgiveness in the contact points and enough versatility to charge the rest of the mountain, too.

Drawing inspiration from the women’s Odyssey snowboard, the Mellow has had it’s shaped tweaked to more modern, sharp outline and is now lives up to its name even more, with a fun, forgiving geometry for cruising the whole mountain. They’ve also tightened the sidecut radius a little, so when the avi risk jumps up and the bigger lines are out of action you can still weave lines through the trees and turn on a dime.

For the nostalgics out there, the Classics Series returns with the Liberty, and the new additions, the Lipstick, Air Pipe and Mono (yes, really, a monoski). These boards hark back to some of Nidecker’s most iconic models from 80s and 90s with original top sheets and similar outlines, but with materials and constructions of the highest standards to meet the demands of the modern-day shredder.

Thierry Kunz’s Snow Surf Series offers a unique and bespoke collection to those who appreciate the finer turns in life. Shapes that are inspired by the time in the water as much as the mountains deliver something pretty special for riders who are chasing the perfect ice-cold cutback, or blower-pow bottom turn.

It’s not all looking towards the seasoned rider, however. Nidecker continues to develop their youth-specific line with models that hold up to Mum and Dad’s snowboards.
