ISPO 2017 Highlights

Our pick of the best products & graphics coming in 2018

After sharing various diseases, the snowboard industry has returned to its various home mountains, signalling the end of another ISPO trade show.Munich’s beer halls no longer ring out with soliloquies on whether Burton’s new step in bindings will work or not, and for the first time in a week airport staff won’t have to deal with shipping container-sized board bags.

Whilst our livers recover and we finish off the last of the brand-by-brand product previews, we thought we’d give you an overall taste as to what, out of the thousands of products on display over the week, caught our collective eye. Here’s our best of ISPO 2017:

Arbor – Terrapin 2017/18

The most choad-like board at the whole show. We’re a massive fan of the short ‘n’ fat fad going on right now, and this thing is almost wider than it is tall.

Bent Metal Binding Works – Logic Sean Genovese Pro Model 2017/18

Not even the first Think Thank graduate to get a pro binding next year! Long time WL favourite and Dinosaurs Will Die frontman Sean Genovese gets to scribble his wee critters on some foot straps as well as topsheets for 2017/18.

CAPiTA – Spring Break Catamaran 2017/18

Described by one reader as a ‘chip shop fork’, we’re excited to see if this thing really does work, or if it’ll just kick up insane amounts of sluff into your face and blind you.

GNU – MC Step Tail 2017/18

You didn’t think Mervin would just call it a day with Magne Traction did you? a new edge technology, and another product we’re keen to get on as soon as possible.

HEAD – Rowdy Kid’s Snowboard 2017/18

A kid’s board that looks like a kid’s board. 90cm of fun!

Jones Snowboards – Lone Wolf 2017/18

New for next winter, it’s apparently named after what happens to Jeremy at parties after he’s told the fifth story about having to walk back down a line he spent eight hours skinning up. JK JJ!

K2 – Simple Pleasures 2017/18

Because if a board can replace the K2 CarveAir, it must be great right?

Korua – Tug Boat & Obelix 2017/18

Korua have two new boards next year without a single piece of edge material between them, crazy! Here you can see the base of the Obelix and the extra channels that make turning this thing possible.

Lib Tech – Terrain Wrecker 2017/18

Because Schoph.

Neff – Mountain Mask 2017/18

Eight Legged Freaks was the definition of a movie so bad it was good. We feel the same way about this facemask.

Nitro – Quiver 2017/18

WANTS. Dribbles. Sighs. Tries to freeze self until next winter.

Rome – Gangplank 2017/18

Props to Rome for Len Jorgensen‘s new pro model Gangplank (far right), a graphic that actually looks like it could have come off a skateboard and totally makes use of the whole pro model concept. Each of the three boards above belongs to a different RK1 member.

Sessions – Metallica Jacket 2017/18

This thing lit up the internet after it leaked earlier this week. You can see why.

Union – Scott Stevens Pro Model Bindings 2017/18

Aaaand there’s the other Think Thank wunderkid who’s landed a pro model binding for 2017/18 – none other than Scott Stevens!

WEST – Lucas Beaufort x We Ride In Iran Collab 2017/18

The best use of Lucas Beaufort’s critters we’ve seen so far, and all for a worthy cause.

YES – 420 2017/18

Our favourite 2017/18 graphic on one of our all-time favourite snowboards: the YES 420. Makes packed trade shows worth it.
