We’ve grown pretty fond of these Tric Trac edits – you know, the ones of the Burton team all doing different variations of the same trick. They’ve slowly been working their way through the tricktionary, increasing in difficulty from humble 180’s through to 1080’s, and have finally reached the double cork stage. So here’s a bunch of frontside dubs from Mark McMorris, John Jackson, Roope Tonteri, Christian Haller, Danny Davis, Shaun White, Jussi Oksanen, Mikkel Bang, and Mikey Rencz.
Not to be pedantic or anything but those first ones by Mark McMorris (and John Jackson to be fair) aren’t really proper doubles are they? Their heads definitely don’t drop below their boards on that second cork – they’re more like slightly off-axis frontside 1080’s we reckon. It’s interesting how the definition of a double cork has shifted from when David Benedek started doing them a while back. His reasoning was that they were double corks because the rider spun on two different axes, although these days it’s all about going under your board twice while spinning. And triples don’t even work at all with that original definition, unless of course there is some unknown third axis that if left uncontrolled could open up a unicorn-filled portal to a parallel universe…
