Terry Kidwell – VBS ‘Powder & Rails’ Part 2

Part 2 of the ‘Powder & Rails’ documentary about the Father of Freestyle, Terry Kidwell, includes footage of the first recorded McTwist on a snowboard, which TK pulled at Donner Pass, Tahoe, in 1986. He might have been rocking a tight stance and a swallow tail, but the trick opened the doors to modern freestyle as we know it. Soon after, Kidwell earned snowboarding’s first pro model with Sims, and inspired by skateboarding took the bold decision to ditch the swallow in favour of a rounded kick tail. Suddenly, riding switch was a possibility.

Featuring interviews with legends as Terje Haakonsen and Shawn Farmer, and rare archive footage, this video is a must see for anyone interested in snowboarding’s roots.
