The finals of the Stylewars went down at Falls Creek today and although the conditions were perfect, Tor Lundström was knocked off the throne by Antoine Truchon the French-Canadian up and comer. In the women’s comp it was Silvia Mittermuller who claimed gold on the podium, her second win in less than a week after her victory in the Mile High contest in Thredbo last week.
Antoine narrowly beat Tor on the final day of the event and with that win, he secures himself the top spot on the World Snowboard Tour Slopestyle ranking giving him an early advantage for the rest of the season. Anotine was throwing down huge switch backside 1260’s and backside 1080’s to claim his bounty of AU$6,000.
Australian rider Biba Turnbull (no relation to our Sam) actually scored higher on the day but it was Mittermullers’ high score from the previous day that helped her take the top spot with back-to-back 360’s on the kicker line helping her claim the cash.
After Slopestyle was done and dusted they decided to run a Big Air on the huuuge gap jump you need to see pictures of (check our Facebook page here if you haven’t already…) Maxence Parrot stomped a Backside Double Cork 1080 (BSDC10 for short) a trick that he had only learnt earlier that day to win the men’s big air title. But it was Mittermuller, the German powerhouse that again took the women’s title by sending a massive frontside nosegrab 720 – just pipping Aussie local Jess Rich to the gold.
All in all, the event was a rad one, and we’re looking forward to next years dogfight already! Check the full results below.
