Aimee Fuller has continued her storming season by claiming third at the Roxy Snow Pro, the brand’s showcase all-girls’ contest in Sandbach-Hinterglemm, Austria. In a dramatic night-time final right at the centre of the village, Aimee put down a run that included a cab underflip, a back three and a backside rodeo, to put her on the podium behind Cheryl Maas and Jamie Anderson. Understandably, Aimee was pretty stoked with the result, especially given that she’d only been back on snow for a week after injuring her heel. Check out the write up on Aimee’s blog to see her reaction.
What’s interesting is the level of riding on display at the Roxy event – whether it was the more manageable size of the kickers compared to say the X Games, or just the shared stoke of an all-girls field, the level really stepped up. As well as Aimee’s technical tricks, Cheryl stomped a back seven tail grab, while Jamie Anderson landed a seriously impressive cab seven to switch back five combo to claim first. Pretty sick eh? Unfortunately this unusually budget TTR video (where’s the soundtrack and titles we’re used to seeing?) doesn’t show our girl doing good, but it gives you an idea of where the level is. Where will women’s snowboarding go next? Well, we’re looking forward to watching these three go head to head at the World Snowboarding Championships later this week.
UPDATE: Roxy have been in touch to let us know that the ‘edit’ TTR initially released and that we included here wasn’t in fact the final version at all. Which sorta makes sense, cos it was rubbish… The proper version is up there now, and best of all, it’s got Aimee’s run in it.
