Even though we’ve already posted a few highlights edits, here are all of Burton’s official videos from the 14th Burton European Open in Laax, Switzerland.
SLOPESTYLE:
This is all footage from the slopestyle semi finals, which ended up actually determining the final result owing to the finals proper being cancelled due to bad weather. Torstein Horgmo bossed it with a run that included a backside 180-switch 50-50-cab 3 out, switch backside 900 and both frontside and backside double cork 1080s. Look out for a silky smooth cab 270, 270 out and switch backside 720 from Jamie Nicholls at 00:24 (who finished 32nd overall) as well. You can read our full report here.
WOMEN’S HALFPIPE:
16 year old American Arielle Gold triumphed over the mighty Kelly Clark to take her first BEO gold medal, with Ellery Hollingsworth rounding out the podium in third. Arielle’s run included a massive backside air and a cab 900. It was great to see such confidence, amplitude and control from a relatively little-known name. She’s definitely going to be one to watch over the next few years.
MEN’s HALFPIPE:
Men’s halfpipe was all about one miniature Japanese kid. Ayumu Hirano was going bigger than dudes twice as old and twice as experienced as himself and linked together a solid run with back to back 1080s and a frontside double cork to beat Iouri Podladtchikov and Scotty Lago to the gold medal. Read our full round up of the halfpipe action here.
JUNIOR SLOPESTYLE AND HALFPIPE:
Saturday saw the conclusion of the 14th BEO with the Junior halfpipe and slopestyle competitions going down under bluebird skies. In the girl’s category Chloe Kim was dominant in both slopestyle and halfpipe while Jake Pates sent in the boy’s halfpipe and Markus Cleveland stomped his way to gold in slopestyle.
