It’s not even October yet and already the winter X Games machine is beginning to tick over… Real Backcountry 2014 is now upon us.

Using a different format to previous years, they seem to be dropping each part individually. First up is the boss man – Andreas Wiig.

Three-time X Games gold medallist, Shredbot and all round backcountry bad ass, he’s been killing it for years now, high time for some proper recognition.

Especially when you get a load of the ender. Holy fu…. He joins his buddy Torstein as only the second rider ever to land a triple cork into powder.

But even without that banger, his part is worthy of heaped praise. Technical jumps, late corks, some gorgeous slashes, a volcano and some huge freeride lines. Amazing stuff.

Joining him for this year’s comp will be Pat Moore, Jussi Oksanen, Mikey Rencz and Iikka Backstrom. Stay tuned for some more heavy hitters!
