If you’ve never been to Wanaka, NZ, then this is what you’ve been missing out on. On the other side of town from Cardrona and the now defunct Snow Park NZ lies the lesser known but more legendary Treble Cone, a freeride mecca for the South Island.
This video is from Kai White, a Freeride World Qualifier tour hopeful, getting pitted with a friend and 40cm of fresh in the Motatapu Chutes, easily the best zone in the area. He’s obviously fought hard to get these – we’ve personally seen the lift lines in the Back Bowl come to blows before.
As winter begins to make its way back to the Northern Hemisphere, all too slowly really, we can safely say that that looks like the greatest place on earth right now.
